American Isshinryu Karate Schools opened in Thornton, Colorado, in 1999. In 2004 we expanded our facility and expanded our class offering to include instruction in Japanese Weaponry. At that time we also adopted the name Colorado Budo Center.
Our dojo offers a World Class training center and a training curriculum which can't be matched anywhere.
We routinely host internationally recognized instructors of the martial arts for training seminars and workshops.

Our Chief Instructor, Master Instructor John Holwager, has been training and teaching for more than 30 years. Mary Holwager Sensei began her training with Master Holwager in 1982. The two have traveled extensively to further their knowledge, including trips to Australia, Japan, Okinawa and China.
You won't find more knowledgeable, better qualified instructors anywhere.
Together the two oversee all instruction at our school.
